That is right. Sometimes, I want to think that I would not rather get involved into trading alts because there are serious dumps along the way. On the other side of the fence, a single BTC would have already gained $1000 in a week's time. That is already a big profit.
It's good to be smart in hindsight. Remember how the price of bitcoin fell in July. Similarly, people for some days have lost $ 1,000. It's a lottery and it is impossible to always win. Perhaps specially created a stir in reaching the $ 5,000 and therefore the price does not rise above 4400 dollars. Then instead of rising the price will fall.
