The advantage of buying during an ICO is that prices are set artificially instead of by natural market forces. So if a team prices their tokens far below the market price (like BAT, for example), it's easy to make a quick profit overnight.

The tradeoff is that since you're buying tokens based on very little information, it's also easy to get scammed.
