Not late, if anything it is still early into the life of bitcoin as it is slowly creeping into the masses and at that point it still won't be too late so if you can afford it now why not go ahead.
additional to you opinion is i do think that is not too late to buy bitcoin. The bitcoin have many user and as long us the currency of bitcoin is increasing. Because many people who wants to buy bitcoin is waiting for the increase of value of bitcoin and if the bitcoin currency is increase more people will sell their own bitcoin. Because they will get more money of high currency.
