BTC ultimately aims to replace cash but gold doesn't. A cashless society is a society (but of course the world is not ready for it yet) advanced. It does come with its' own drawback though but I believe it's still an advance all in all. The only way we trade in Gold again (for all expenses) in future means we will be going backward to the stone age
