Yeah lol, looks so suspicious people complaining about it, when it's essentially a safety net to make sure they get sent to the right ETH address..
I feel the same. We aren't preventing anyone nor making it harder for them to receive their earned ATS, so there is no reason to be against it.

I believe that most people are expressing dislike for this because of the anonymous nature of cryptocurrency. People might have completely legitimately only created 1 account, but they used a fake name/last name in order to maintain true privacy. If the final verification requires them to remember this fake name, they might not be able to.
