Bitcoins biggest enemy isn't the banks IMO. Its governments and corporations wanting to control the Internet. Bitcoin doesn't threat the elite as much as an open internet does. On the internet you can discuss and do anything you want, you can even make anonymous untracable transactions with the help of cryptocurrency. Making sure the internet is no longer as open as it is today by inflicting surveillance and censorship would probably spell the end of Blockchain technology. Maybe the tech will live on, but the whole purpose of Blockchain and Bitcoin is to give more freedom and power to the people, if that was to be controlled and centralized alot of people would give up on the tech and move on to something new
Well, the Internet is a big threat to those in power, that is why you see countries like Venezuela forcing censorship in facebook and similar websites, a government only cares about maintaining its own power and anything that threatens that is treated as something highly illegal, but Venezuelan people just want to get out of the difficult economic situation they are facing and that is impossible to resolve if the same people remain in power.
