looking for wallet that supports a lot of bitcoin features, meaning I want to customize settings etc. as much as possible.
should also be cross-platform and safe.

Get electrum wallet where you can have options for your transaction fees and it's very secured and safe for newbies than onlin wallets. So try and get that or better blockchain.info wallets if you have enough hard drive space.
