Since it's difficult and labour intensive to create a great game, I would probably prefer a really well made 2d game over a sloppy 3d game. Not sure what your resources are, but that could be a point to consider.
It seems as if graphics have taken too much importance in modern gaming, which has been taking away from good stories, well thought through worlds, mechanics and just general content.

Do you have any estimate on when you'll have a beta or anything like that?
We are testing up base concepts with 2.5D and 3D. We are aiming an alpha at end of next month.
