Whether similar to other projects or not shouldn't be the question. What matters most is the motivation, vision and the team behind the project as well as the target market and expected impact on the users of the services. There's no idea absolutely new under the sun and no single organization can alone, serve the needs of all the world population.
I think the world would be better off with many more projects offering similar services but targeting different countries and regions. Power Ledger is a great project and it will make a visible impact on the Australian energy sector and by extension the world at large. It's a very good project.
