okay just started reading up about bitcoins and want to start earning some what do I need to get started I don't have any powerful laptops/pcs right now but plan to get some soon and start mining

I disagree, I think more people should be involved in mining Bitcoin. I'd highly recommend doing your research before you spend a lot of money on high end GPUs while ASICs are lurking around.
Personally I mine both because I want to support the network while tinkering, and because I believe in the long term potential of Bitcoin. If Bitcoin does go the direction that many people hope, i.e. trillion dollar plus valuation, you'll wish you'd mined those few bitcents when you had the chance. At the least you'll develop a bit of a better understanding of how Bitcoin works and be a part of the largest distributed computing project to date.
