links like these never work for me on firefox and I think others had the same problem. FYI, you can just go to the telegram website and search for the project to join there.
No, it has nothing to do with missing telegram application on the computer.
I have telegram desktop version and it works fine.
The problem was, that the link here in OP and the link at the top of the telegram website were invalid.
