I used that pool few days ago, it was working just fine!!!
pool.shaft.sh:8008 was working also
You sure you're familiar with geth? It was a lot of headache to me but I managed to get it to work

I was able to solo mine too: EthDcrMiner64.exe -allpools 1 -epool http://127.0.0.1:8545 -ewal afrazium -epsw pass -allcoins 1
