This was already disproven according to a Reddit poster. Apparently the guy that created the rumor is some con-artist that was caught with lies in the past.

Looks like he was trying to pump BTC and when the announcement came out nothing really happened.

So as much as I would love to see Amazon accept BTC, at this point there is no point to accept BTC yet.
