How does this affect warranty if you have a used unit ? Canaan sees it is past warranty date and you're SOL..?
I thought I would pass along a bit of info I was able to get from Canaan, as I find myself in the customs waiting game I thought I would do a bit of preemptive digging.
From what I gathered the units received so far and confirmed through the Minerwarez distributor, are pallets from the bulk order center. Some of these pallets are packed and prepped for circulation within China and do not come sealed in plastic, but should be in a box. There may also be the odd unit that doesn't come with cables as they are not part of the package in China. The lack of cables should be rare as they were going through box by box to make sure that items through the distributor would match the description. To get stock to the distributor we may have received 1 or more of these pallets.
I think Phillipma1957's replacement may fall into that category not sure, but as he stated in the video he did tell them he still had working cables.
As far as used or barely used condition, correct me if I'm wrong but all miners are used in the sense that they go through a burn in period for quality assurance; and yes obviously the added benefit of profiting on a machine for a bit for free, lol. Also not being sealed in a bag may contribute to some dust and what not.
In regards to warranty, Canaan can identify the date of manufacture and the pallet that the item originally belonged to; so they can sort out an official path from them to you. This is done with some numbers on the unit itself, not sure which ones as I don't have miine yet

. With that info they can confirm original warranty dates, via the distributor. If you paid via credit card or Paypal you have the added security if your warranty isn't honored within the allotted time frame, with buyer protection.
