Yes, local pick up is possible. These are located in northern New Jersey, very close to New York City. Another member picked up 2 units yesterday. I have sold 2 on Ebay with 2 more actively listed. So I have 4 left with 7 more coming around the end of the month (Sept 21-30 batch).
