I have to agree. I put 6 LTC to mine this coin, so yes while I was lucky enough to get in early I did have to spend my own $$$ to mine this coin. Air drops are free by comparison. Also given that the coin would be worth a little over $1 after POW ends that is a free lunch and drink.
