The current NBA MVP Russel Westbrook has signed a new five year contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder in a deal totaling $205 million in all he is going to earn $235 million in the entirety of the contract, his contract extension has overshadowed his former teammate Kevin Durant's birthday which is today. I am sure this is no coincidence at all.

I think he deserves everything. This is the result of his last season's performance. He will carry this team once again but with the help of PG and Melo behind. Happy to see Westbrook got to this point of his career. He should thank Durant for that. If Durant didn't leave the team, then he can't performed the way he shows last year. And signing a big contract will surely inspired him to give another best this season. But he need to cap everything off with a nice ring around his finger. And it would be really good if it is against Durant and the Golden State Warriors. OKC-GSW for the West Finals.
They are a better team now with great addition and to see Westbrook playing again with his best will surely entertain us fans.
He get what he deserved for and with that big salary, I am sure he will be the most motivated man in the team, he can lead this team to step on the bigger stage and actually I have high hopes for the Thunder this season, I hope they can blend well and will compete with the Spurs or warriors.
This season will be a crucial one for the Thunder. If they can find a good balance with the trio of Westbrook, George, and Anthony, they might finish in the second spot in the West and could persuade PG and Melo to stay a little longer. Meanwhile, San Antonio would still be good but they clearly have to trade away LaMarcus Aldridge and find somebody else who fits better with their system. Houston could be good enough to finish 3rd, while Minnesota would finally find itself playing in the post season after a long long time.
