The difficulty will always go up with ASICs coming about. Sometimes they are just minutes apart and sometimes an hour. The system tries to keep generation to every 10 minutes. We were just lucky to get those 6 blocks in under 10 minutes.
That is the only way they can build in any kind of value otherwise this is nothing more than a great big ponzi scheme.
