It's possible and I believe almost all the traders are doing it because it's possible to double or triple your account in just days investing in altcoins. Due to low volume and volatility, many altcoins are pump and dump everyday so its possible that if you have a position of a certain altcoin and it is not moving that much then there is a possibility that sooner or later it will be pump or if a coin has active developers and has a purpose then it would grow in value eventually because of its usability thus many people buy altcoin using bitcoin to grow their bitcoin amount not just its equivalent value in fiat.
