It will knock down all the bugs from the current MRNG wallet (Stuck blocks, not syncing, 0 nodes connected, confirmation too slow). It's a mandatory update for those who got MRNG since it's PoS Smiley

Right and isn't it also a light client for more easy use? I always thought that that is what electrum is all about? Is that wrong?

Electrum is a thin client that still allows you to keep your private keys on you local machine.  It is a much easier to use wallet on desktop and a necessary step to get mobile wallets and hardware wallets (i.e. Trezor).  It will also allow us to move into spaces like Atomic Swap and Shapeshift.
