Even if a person is not entirely addicted to the point of compulsion, it is possible that their gambling habits may not be entirely in their control. A problem gambler is someone who has some sort of gambling behavior that is disturbing their normal life. This can often be identified when a person begins to find themselves chasing losses, lying to loved ones about their betting habits, or starts to realize that they cannot seem to stop themselves from gambling more and more often. That is a good way to put it. Indeed there are tell tail signs that a gambler is indeed addicted to gambling. Usually the do chase their losses and they bet every penny they have. Sometimes some of them just take loans to gamble with or even sell their property just so that they can gamble with the money. Pretty sad truth, but it happens everywhere.
