A court in Thessaloniki, Greece, has approved an extradition request from the United States against Aleksandr Vinnik. The 38-year-old Russian was accused of using the BTC-e exchange platform for money laundering, as well as for the operation of the same without a license. Immediately after the sentence, the defendant's defense filed an appeal. The truth of the case is that, if extradition takes place, the precedent would be the most accentuated. The controversy will come because BTC-e, now renamed Wex, was not an American company and did not operate within the United States.
