I think, it can. Bitcoin's value is now increasing after the downfall that resulted in China banning exchanges and ICO. From its price before which is 4800, it fell down to 3300$ but it is now again priced at 4200 which proves that Bitcoin can still be successful without China. I think it will be able to break the 5000$ mark before this year ened especially if the hardfork that will happen in Novembember will succeed like the previous one, that made the value of Bitcoin to reach the 4k mark drom 2800 and hoping that same thing will happen in the incomming hardfork.
