This isn't the technical way to do so and I'm not sure if it's possible to disable it otherwise, but one guy that sold me a Compac (not a 2pac) put some dark nail polish on the LED and it barely shines through. No electrical issues on the stick with it on to my knowledge. Dark tape might work too.
