I want to continue building my train, and investing in a big power surge protector have a lot of power slots, but  I don't need one until I am two 12 USB strips in but it is something that is like 14 miners already going. Right now I am running the standard surge protector power strip that only has 8 power slots and no space between them.
If a miner needs protection, then so does a dishwasher, all GFCIs, central air, dimmer switches, refrigerator, door bell, recharging electronics, furnace, clocks, stove, and the most critical item if a surge exists - every smoke detector.  Only the naive believe a power strip, with its near zero joules, will provide effective protection.  If you do not have a properly earthed 'whole house' protector, then even that power strip protector desperately needs to be protected.  So what phrase in the sentence was most critical?  "Properly earthed".

Earth ground that only meets code would not be 'properly earthed'.

Power strip is only 15 amps - not matter how many slots.  How many amps does each miner consume?  Total up those numbers.  It better be less than 13 amps per strip.

Best power strip has no protector parts.  And always has that critical and essential 15 amp circuit breaker.

Then view how many amps circuit can provided - a number on the breaker box circuit breaker.

Do not let an electrician make another common mistake (if upgrading power). If using a common neutral, then a neutral wire must be larger than other wires - to avert fire.
