You can join a pool and mine. The fastest miner currently is dga's miner, the stratum branch can be found here https://github.com/dave-andersen/fastrie/tree/stratum
If you want to mine solo the best option is to compile a stratum server yourself as most of the recent miner development has been for stratum.
