Corruption is both a major cause and a result of poverty around the world.

Corruption may be the number 2 cause. The first cause has to be overpopulation. If the population density is too high, then naturally there will be competition over the natural resources. And in the end, the per capita availability of resources such as land and water will be too low to allow decent living standards among the general population. 

That's correct. Over population is what's causing poverty. If everyone can notice, lots of those poor nations has more population compared to those countries where people can live the life they want, and the people at those rich countries are healthier too compared to those countries that are poor. They are more dependent too to what the government can offer compared to those rich ones.
