So basically people have lost their money in BTM, no chance for wallet update in poloniex and further no chance to enter in other big exchange like bittrex or hitbtc? 
My take is that Poloniex is waiting for the next version of BTM which will have the DGWv3 difficulty adjustment algorithm, among other things. So I wouldn't give up on it. I would think they have an obligation to release your BTM if you want them back.
I know Bittrex has been approached, and they have yet to resolve. Cryptopia and Binance have been mentioned as well as HitBTC
