Other gaming projects are using crypto only as a token to buy in game items/perks.
On the other hand, Chimaera is truly gaming on top of the blockchain.
As someone heavily involved with GAME for quite some time, I don't see too much overlap between these projects. GameCredits is working to build an all-inclusive gaming community, while Chimaera seeks to create resources for gaming directly on the blockchain. I've got no reason to believe it's not possible for both of these projects to flourish in their separate spheres.
Yes. Just like in many other places, such as how Bitcoin shares space with many other projects. Not all solutions are best for all problems.
