Right now Bitcoin and Ethereum have a strangle hold because everything is based off them. When new people enter crypto they will always have to go through btc or eth in order to buy other altcoin. Until this changes, they will most likely have the highest market values and least volatile change in price, in comparison to cryptocurrencies.
