Very likely coinmarketcap use banners taken from a third party platform, like an ad marketplace. Thus they don't even know which ads are displayed on their own website. This is vvery common among webmasters since such platforms are intermediaries which connect ad offer and of demand. Coinmrket i think is just a regular site and May be it was paid by that company to advertise or promote its own site. Seeing it is acquiring many views, its good opportunity to advertise site links. Because I have seen many sites in coinmarket cap and annoying as they be, that is how a site is earning.
As someone who has a few years in the media as a journalist, I have come to realize that most media houses survive and are able to take care if running costs through patronage (money from advertisers who could be moneybags or unscrupulous politicians) I know and understand that. But there's always some reputable media houses that stay away from that.
That is what CMC should be doing. It should stay away and not let go of its reputation because of some cash in the offing. It shouldn't be allowing fraudulent schemes advertise on its site. Doing that will make it lose face.
Boy, are you guys in for a shocker. Brace yourselves, for I'm about to drop a bombshell thanks to my in-depth research that took mega hours to conduct all on my own dime (as always, no tips solicited) ...
Scroll to the very bottom of CMC's page to find the following on the far left side:
Ignore the banner ad which was generated via Google Adsense, in my case, thanks to visiting the site and NOT via a search, alluding to that Google Chrome tracks more than you think.
Notice the "Advertise" link which I boxed in red. Following the the link, you arrive here ...

PS: Speaking of tracking, while checking my email I noticed a reply from Godaddy requesting to complete my order for some domains I researched (availability/pricing) while ... wait for it ... not being logged into their site. I wonder how the fuck they're able to pull that shit off.
