Possible, but I think not in the near future. Bitcoindark has less circulating supply. The market cap for Ethereum Dark by 90$ will be 270.066.420. With this market cap ETHD will be in the top 20 today... So I think it will not happend in the near future.
I was going to invest when the price was around $0.86. It's a risky trade to right now, people got the coin for 2k sats not even a week ago.
You can buy it at a significantly lower price on etherdelta now that people are starting to panicking. It goes as low as $0.05 some times of the day.

There is no official whitepaper being released as of today, as far as I'm concerned. The dev is working on it he says.
