I do think that ASIC is much more better if you want to earn in bitcoins and ETH and any other coins that you want to mine because it has more hash power and it can mine faster then but  the thing is that it is more expensive than GPU. Otherwise,  if you want to mine in altcoin. GPU is the best option if you are in budget, you can buy cheaper or high end graphics card depends on your preference and its not hard to buy those than ASIC which you need to order online in their website and mostly they are not in computer shops or that you can buy in electronic stores.
