That is only true for algos that use the RAM rather than clock. Plenty of algos that prefer the 1080. I will just have to deal with it on cryptonight. Happy enough with the results anyway.
Sorry, it's still not a good mining card and here is why:
A 1080 gets 38 on skunkhash, tops. Compared to a 1070 which runs at 30 hashes for that algo. That's a gain of 20%, sounds good so far. But the thing is you could've bought three 1070s for the price of two 1080s.
The wattage of a stressed 1080 is at 185, a 1070 eats up 160 watts.
Yeah that is understandable and I am aware of the efficiency. I did not build my rig for mining though and already had the cards, so I use what I have
