I have around 2400$ and I have the idea to invest them by buying bitcoin. I plane for a long term investment (few months to year). Best time to buy BTC and best strategy (I heard about a hard fork will happen soon) ? Other ideas to invest this amount of money for the indicated period of time ?

It looks like you are too late now because the price of bitcoin is going to the moon. Its good though that you are planning to invest into it long term, but I don't think that right now is a good entry point. Just wait for the price to at least go down before buying bitcoin. I think the best rate to buy bitcoin is around $6000, but then again, maybe the price can still go down a little. There's nothing you can do right now but to wait, so that you can at least maximized your profits when you buy in dips. Have a little patience and just wait after the Segwit2x activation around Nov. 16.
