Hi Louis,
Mining can be profitable anywhere, but Manitoba and Quebec are likely your best bets in Canada. Affordable electricity is paramount in this business. How much of his setup costs go to actual mining machines depends heavily on site selection and whether the property is leased or purchased and whether the facility is purpose-built or converted from a previous use such as a factory or a server farm.
What a lot of people forget about industrial mining is that the land you purchase and improve is a tangible asset with a re-sale value and there's a huge market for 2nd hand miners. The Russians have the cheapest power on earth and they buy up used miners by the thousands, sometimes the Chinese will, too. There are definitely opportunities down the line to recoup costs on the initial investment.
My partner and I are looking to open a mine in Manitoba in the next year, so maybe there's an opportunity for co-operation.
Bitcoin miner from Manitoba here... Can confirm! Cheap on the large scale but Hydro will not let people from out of Provence build. People getting denied.
