and i'm 8 days behind stuck on block 59936 with 12 connections and running the wallet continuously for a couple days.
strangely enough this is stuck shortly after i received my first coins from an exchange and then shut down the wallet for a few days -- about 116 confirms on that transaction before shutting down the wallet.

perhaps a zipfile of a recent snapshot/bootstrap of the blockfiles could be made available for people to get around these humps (not recovering from soft forks?)
