Well people are not honest because they have personal interest and motive and in order to get it they need to be dishonest or anything whatever it required.
Some people were not honest because they have to cover up something with a lie so that they won't hurt either themselves or the one they love. While some were not honest because they don't want others to know who they really was as they pretend to be someone they are not.
