You can't really compare the two as ZEC had no supply when it started. BTG has alot of supply so don't expect much. And with auto switchers now and a settled algorithm, the scenario is totally different. I would use electroneum as a use case if i where you but that could be wrong also as ETN has no supply but an established alog
Previous year with ZEC it was also difficult to get Zcash wallet address as with BTG now. Why dev team of Bitcoingold doesn't release even desktop wallet before mining launch?
About autoswitch: I think it's not the best option. You can use your favorite algo and mine directly to Bitcoin address by using Nicehash stratums
