Also, it wasn't the British to invent the "Internet" as you said. World-Wide-Web is not the same as "Internet" and the "invention" was made by CERN (where Tim Berners-Lee, the british guy, was the responsible). And the World-Wide-Web that they made, isn't the same as the WWW you have today. There are thousands of different people from several countries involved.
