The demand has died off because of the unlimited amount of coins into existence,but you have to remember that this is the cheapest coin with the cheapest transaction fees and every user trying out crypto currency for the first time can check the waters with dogecoin and learn the basics before venturing into other major coins.
It's a bitcoin clone, maybe a fork if I'm not wrong. At the idea of it doesn't give us anything new. So there is no reason to buy dogecoin. Only casino projects like it for fast transactions, that's all. Don't expect too much from it.
