I managed to implement the hardware undervolting Mod and I must say it works like magic. Currently doing 6.9V @ 437MHZ giving me about 15.3GH with no HW errors 
I think if D3 is unlocked to other algos, this would be like having an early xmas coz bitmain fooled so many pple by over selling these machines and they are doing the same thing now to L3+
So if for example i can use my D3 on Scrypt. It would mean a vast number of pple will not order from bitmain but simply change algo of the D3 they already own which would put bitmain in check atleast for a short while.
I wouldnt mind paying for these software mods just to stick it up to bitmain
