Guys, i really need some help claming my BTG.

I have access to my Bitcoin Core wallet where my coins where when the snapshot happend. I installed the Bitcoin Gold wallet, but syncing takes weeks! If the syncing process is done, then i just can copy my wallet.dat into de Bitcoin Gold wallet?

Are there any other faster ways to claim my BTG?
