To say that a topic has "failed" is not logical.  It achieved a high percentage of the goals that I set out to achieve:

1) A statistically relevant indication of alt-coin popularity
2) A discussion of the merits of disparate alt-coins in the current mining and marketing contexts. 

To assign a boolean to a topic is not logical, but if forced, I would have to say it there was much win here.
