What I was saying with that link is, don't do "show me designs and I'll pay if I like them" crap. Respect designers by finding one you like, paying him for his work, and receiving a high quality product. Anything else creates a marketplace of broke-ass designers constantly scrapping to make a dime and almost always just wasting their time.
Well, i totally understand you... But I don't need a 1000$ logo, i just need a simple logo. This is not a company meant to grow, I just want to create a portfolio to get a few clients as a side job... So I don't see why I would need to pay a lot for that!
Who said anything about "paying a lot"? Does respect for the trade only apply when more money is involved?
Try to understand it this way: 5 people start working on a design at the same time, and a 6th person presents a design you like and you choose it and pay them. Now 5 people have wasted their time because of you.
I suggest using the thread to find the person, check their previous work, choose them by making a commitment, then having them make something. If they fail to please you, move to the next.
