As majority of now projects choose ethereum blockchain so its better to use myetherwallet or if you can buy hardware wallet then its more better.for other altcoin as they use different blockchain so you have to download their respective wallet or you go make a wallet in multiwallet support sites.
The myetherwallet is by far the most used altcoin wallet. Reason it's so easy and simple to use. What I like also is that you can manage so many tokens with just 1 wallet.
The same applies for the waves lite client, only most coins on the waves platform have no volume.
