I think people are looking for an alternative to Bitcoin, since it's price has skyrocketed recently. Since Bitcoin was the first to kick off the block chain area, Ethereum is the first in its category, concerning smart contracts and will push crypto to the next level. However the limiting factor (for the price to go up) is the infinite number of Ether that will be mined over time. Unlike Bitcoin Ether is not limited in its number.
