It's hard to find new blocks without hashrate and its hard to get hashrate without finding new blocks. We are living in a Catch-22 at this point.

I joined about a week AFTER they found the last block.

This pool currently has no fees, that is a huge benefit and it is run by the man who wrote the pool software, also a benefit.

Getting out of the "deferred" payment comes with time spend mining. That get explained in the first few pages of this thread.
