Hi @all,

as probably some of you have exchanged fans - what kind of model / type would you guys recommend? How many RPM fans are you using to get the D3 quiet?
Mine are currently running at 2500-3000rpm with original fans. Any recommendations?

And thanks Blissz, for starting this and still working on an even better custom FW. :-)

I run it with the 120mm 2000rpm Scythe Slip Stream fans, but that only works if you run it at the lowest voltage setting. A relative silent 2500 to 3000rpm would be better. Anybody got suggestions?

Yes, I think I found one:

This one looks quite promising actually. I just ordered some (they are not cheap!) and I'll give them a try over the weekend...

I have installed the Noctua NF-F12 (3.000rpm = 65dB)

Ambient temp: 16°C
Fan: (AUTO Performance) ~75%
Clock: 500 MHz
Voltage: 9V
Max Chip-Temp: 86°C
18.730 MH/s
Accepted: 100%
Hardware errors: 0 (after 30min)
Usage: 1.020 Watt

Testing again

Fan loudness curve:
10 %   44 dB   750 rpm
15 %   45 dB   875 rpm
20 %   47 dB   1.000 rpm
25 %   48 dB   1.125 rpm
30 %   49 dB   1.250 rpm
35 %   50 dB   1.375 rpm
40 %   51 dB   1.500 rpm
45 %   52 dB   1.625 rpm
50 %   54 dB   1.750 rpm
55 %   55 dB   1.875 rpm
60 %   56 dB   2.000 rpm
65 %   57 dB   2.125 rpm
70 %   58 dB   2.250 rpm
75 %   59 dB   2.375 rpm
80 %   60 dB   2.500 rpm
85 %   62 dB   2.625 rpm
90 %   63 dB   2.750 rpm
95 %   64 dB   2.875 rpm
100 %   65 dB   3.000 rpm

Did I read the thread correctly that you opted against these after testing?  I was also curious why their website advertises 43db when you were measuring 60ish.   There must be some rule about the distance of the measurement that is standard?   43db would have been a win over the stock fans for sure (but lower RPM/flow of course).

(Edit: if so too bad, the 6 year warranty is hella-appealling!  You could migrate your fans to the next gen of 120mm ASIC miners).
