blockchain . info is a good one.
Electrum is not very user-friendly for newbies, so people should take note of that. If you are not planning to store large amounts of bitcoins in web wallets, then Blockchain.info is fine. Use both if you need to, but Blockchain.info is by far the easiest web wallet to use.

Yeah, there's probably more. I don't have time to find it out. You shouldn't be putting any amount of money into something that you can't secure fully. If you are going to store coins, you don't want to lose a single cent right? Blockchain.info is NOT a safe wallet by their previous track record and I don't see why any alternatives would be anything worse than that. Stop recommending Blockchain.info to newbies.


Hardware wallets are not a necessity. The main thing you need is a computer free of any malware and a desktop wallet. Electrum would be the best lightweight wallet.

Edit: No offense but it isn't quite intelligent to be saying Electrum is not user friendly. Anyone who knows the basics of Bitcoin is more than capable of using it.
